Bury Me In The Promise | Gen 49:13-33

Feb 15, 2026    Pastor Jason Frei

Jacob's Final Words: "Bury Me in the Promise" The core theme of the sermon is introduced, highlighting Jacob's perspective shift at the end of his life. Jacob, at 147 years old, reflects on his life and delivers final blessings, emphasizing his desire to be buried in the promised land, signifying his faith in God's continuing covenant.

Blessings and Prophecies for the Tribes. Pastor Jason delves into specific blessings for various tribes:

Zebulun (14:23-16:22): Prophesied to be involved in commerce and trade, situated at the crossroads of global commerce.

Issachar (16:23-20:50): Described as a hardworking tribe that, despite initial exploitation, would eventually rise up and "understand the times and knew what Israel ought to do," as mentioned in 1 Chronicles 12:32. The pastor connects this to the impact of AI and the importance of faithfulness.

Dan (23:37-26:50): Portrayed with a subtle wisdom but also a tendency towards self-destruction, referencing Samson and the tribe's eventual abandonment of their territory and establishment of idolatry.

Gad (27:42-29:56): Described as a fighting tribe that "will raid back," known for their resilience and warrior-like qualities.

Asher (30:00-31:07): Foretold to live a life of abundance and provide provisions, supporting other tribes from the background.

Naphtali (31:11-33:14): Associated with freedom and good speech, and notably, the land from which the Messiah would come.

Joseph (33:19-36:19): Receives an extensive blessing due to his faithfulness and unmovable character, highlighting his role in preserving life and bringing blessings even in enemy territory.

Benjamin (36:25-39:51): Characterized as a "ravenous wolf," initially seen as pampered but possessing a fierce zeal that, when redirected, could be used for good, as exemplified by Saul (who became Paul).

Conclusion and Call to Faith (39:51-46:30): The sermon concludes with Jacob's explicit instruction to be buried in the land of Canaan (42:31), underscoring his unwavering faith in God's promises even if he wouldn't see their full fruition in his lifetime. Pastor Jason encourages the congregation to live with a similar perspective, embracing God's promises and being ambassadors for Christ.
