Series: J.O.Y. (2 parts)
A Study through the book of Philippians.
The book of Philippians is a book of contrasts. Though the Apostle Paul was writing it basically from jail, it is a book all about Joy. Joy is different than "happiness" which is based on "what's happening." If life is good then you might be happy, but when it gets bad, you won't be. God does not want us to live on a foundation built on shifting sands but rather on the Rock of Christ! True joy is not dependent on what's happening but rather on who's happening -- and that is Christ who is alive forevermore and fulfills our souls. The acronym to remember for true joy is simple: J.O.Y. = Jesus, Others, You. If you put Jesus first in your life, then others, then yourself, that is the secret to true Joy.
