Series: Habakkuk

A Study through the book of Habakkuk.

When the righteous cannot understand God's ways, they are called to trust His sovereign justice and live by faith, knowing that God will accomplish His purposes in His perfect time.

Author:
The prophet Habakkuk, about whom little is known outside this book. Unlike most prophets, Habakkuk primarily speaks to God on behalf of the people rather than speaking to the people on behalf of God. His book is a dialogue with God that culminates in a psalm of worship (chapter 3).

Date:
Likely written 609–605 B.C., just before the Babylonian invasion of Judah.
This places the book:
  • After the reforms of Josiah.
  • During the reign of Jehoiakim.
  • After Babylon's rise to power but before its first conquest of Jerusalem in 605 B.C.
